The Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association Southern Chapter are setting off on a 1,800 mile ride out across the UK in support of HIOWAA.
The group of bikers, made up entirely of freemasons aged from 29 to 80, will be setting off from Chandlers Ford on Thursday 19 August, passing through Wales, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow before reaching John O’ Groats. The bikers will then round off their near 2,000 mile trip by heading back down to Portsmouth.
20 riders will make up the core group, with fellow masonic bikers up and down the country showing their support by joining the group for various legs of the journey.
Mike Haywood, the president of the Southern Chapter, told the Southern Daily Echo: “All this is about is like-minded people riding motorbikes and trying to raise money for charity. As long as it doesn’t rain like it did last year, we’re looking forward to it.”
The Widows Sons Southern Chapter have been dedicated supporters of our charity over the years and have raised over £18,000 since 2019.
Natalie Russell, HIOWAA’s Community Campaigns Fundraiser, said, “We are so grateful to the Widows Sons Southern Chapter who have been supporting us so well for more than two years. The support the motorcycling community gives to HIOWAA is phenomenal, and they allow us to fly to and treat riders when they’re in their hour of need. On behalf of everyone at HIOWAA, thank you Widows Sons and very best of luck for the weekend!”
