Today marks the end of a hugely successful three-year partnership between Southampton Airport and HIOWAA.
Since the partnership began in January 2017, Southampton Airport customers, staff and supporters have gone on to raise over £100,000.00.
For the past three years, Southampton Airport has played host to its annual ‘Runway Run’ in aid of HIOWAA; raising over £45,000 through ticket sales alone. Growing year-on-year, the number of participants taking part in the early morning 5km fun run has more than doubled since the first run in aid of HIOWAA in 2017.
Staff from the airport have embarked on their own fundraising missions, including: skydives, bake sales and bucket collections for HIOWAA over the three years. And this year, members of the Southampton Airport Fire Service swapped blazing fires for blazing saddles as they cycled 655 miles from Aberdeen Airport to Southampton Airport, raising nearly £4,000.
HIOWAA Partnerships Manager, Ray Southam, said:
“Our relationship with Southampton Airport has been an incredible journey over the last three years. We would love to say a big thank you to staff, customers and passengers for the support they have provided us. Over two million passengers pass through Southampton Airport every year; that’s potentially two million who have learned something about our life-saving charity.”
Southampton Airport Managing Director, Neil Garwood, said:
“It has been our pleasure and our privilege to support such an important charity as HIOWAA. Our staff have been proud to raise funds to help keep this vital work going and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”
