In May, the Education Team visited 3rd New Forest Beavers who had recently taken part in our Save Up to Suit Up – Ten Pence Challenge. The Beavers raised an incredible £460 for HIOWAA, with one Beaver even donating their own pocket money to the fundraising challenge.
Beaver Scout Leader, Barry Spiers, spoke of his personal reason for supporting us.
“A few years ago, my mother in-law was involved in a traffic accident on Beaulieu Road and had to be airlifted to University Hospital Southampton. During the journey she also received what I believe was the Charity’s first mid-air blood transfusion.”
Towards the end of their fundraising, one of the parents from the group approached the leaders to say that their employer, Skill Scaffolding, wanted to match the amount the Beavers had raised. Skill Scaffolding donated a further £540 to take the Beavers fundraising to an amazing £1,000!
Barry added
“It was the hard work of the Beavers, and support of the parents and grandparents, that made our Save Up to Suit Up challenge such a success.”
