Working with our partners at Babcock Aviation, our pilots have been busy getting fitted out for new half-face respirator masks, to help keep them safe when flying patients with an unknown Covid-19 status.
This new, innovative piece of technology allows our teams of doctors, paramedics and pilots to carry Covid-19 positive patients in the back of our aircraft. The masks are customised with built-in microphones so our pilots can safely communicate with the team on board the helicopter and flight control while minimising the risk of infection.
In April last year, Babcock Aviation fitted our aircraft, the H135, with a custom-designed barrier to provide reassurance to our pilots whilst flying the Air Ambulance.
