National Volunteers’ Week 2020 – 1-7 June

The current Coronavirus pandemic means that we have had to put all volunteering on hold for the time being, but we wanted to take the opportunity to express our heartfelt thank you to all of our fantastic volunteers who help us all year round.

Specialist Critical Care Paramedic, Oliver Saddler, sent a special message to our volunteers to thank them for their incredible commitment. Watch his message below.

We also shone the spotlight on two of our volunteers, Clare and Paul, who featured in the latest edition of Helimed 56. Click on their pictures to read the full interview.

Clare has been volunteering for around 10 years. During the week, she is busy in her role as an Employee Relations Consultant at Carnival UK, and on the weekends, you will see her manning our events as part of our Event Support Team. #NationalVolunteersWeek

“The team at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance are great at recognising that I work full time and they take that into consideration when offering me volunteer roles. I never feel under any pressure to cover events that would impact upon my work commitments.”

Paul has been a volunteer for nearly two years. He joined the Events Team after his brother in law was saved by the Air Ambulance, when he suffered a heart attack on the Isle of Wight. #NationalVolunteersWeek

“I get a such a sense of achievement from every event I attend or conversation I have about the Charity. Helping to save a life is a brilliant way to spend my free time.”

Every life we save can only be done thanks to the support of our fantastic volunteers. Thank you for helping us to Keep Critical Care in the Air.
