We are delighted to announce that we have been recognised for providing great and valuable services to the community at the High Sheriff of Hampshire Awards.
The Hampshire High Sheriff Awards, presented in partnership with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation, recognises organisations who helped respond to the many challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic presented our community.
We were encouraged to nominate HIOWAA for the award by the 2020 High Sheriff of Hampshire Rev Sue Colman who, in her role as a Trustee of Sir Jeremiah Colman Gift Trust, oversaw a generous £2,000 grant to HIOWAA in 2020.
Our Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser, Matthew Bennett, says,
“It is a great honour to have been recognised among the many organisations who have contributed so greatly to the communities of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight through such a challenging time.
He adds: “Being presented with the award was a gratifying reminder of why we fundraise: to ensure that we can always bring exceptional Critical Care to the people of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. It is, however, only thanks to the generosity of the communities that we serve that we are able keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.”
Big thanks also go to the current High Sheriff of Hampshire and Trustee of the De Brye Trust, Phillip Sykes, who kindly awarded us a grant of £5,000 earlier this year. As well as being at the award ceremony on Friday, Phillip also paid a visit to our Airbase along with our Deputy CEO, Sherie Williams Ellen.
