Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) are proud to announce that our new online Wellbeing Programme has been nominated for ‘Innovation of the Year’ at the Air Ambulance Awards of Excellence.
In March, we became the first Air Ambulance Charity in the UK to launch a comprehensive programme that takes a proactive, new approach to monitoring and enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of our Critical Care Teams.
At the heart of the programme is a new wellbeing website, designed to give the paramedics, doctors, pilots and dispatch assistants, who make up the Critical Care Teams, the tools to monitor their own mental health by completing an anonymous monthly survey.
Helicopter Emergency Medicine Service (HEMS) doctor, Matt Kerton, who developed the programme for HIOWAA, said:
“There is nothing that can prepare us for what we come up against every day and we regularly attend life-changing incidents that stay with us long after our shift finishes.”
The winners of the awards will be revealed on 18th November.
