Airport Fire Service swap blazing fires for blazing saddles!

Monday 24th June 2019

Sunday 23rd June saw the biggest Runway Run to date and has so far raised over £28,000 for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA), but Southampton Airport’s support doesn’t stop there!

Today (Monday 24th June), six firefighters from the Airport Fire Service are setting off from Aberdeen Airport, pedalling their way back to Southampton on an epic 655-mile cycle challenge over six days to continue raising vital funds.

The ride will see them visit all three airports that are part of the AGS Airport Group: Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton. The team will pay an additional visit to the HIOWAA airbase at Thruxton, Hampshire, to thank the doctors, paramedics, flight crew and staff for their continued hard work.

The heroic team have already smashed their £3,000 target, but you can continue to donate and support them here and even follow their progress here.

Tuesday 25th June

“Late finish on our charity bike ride for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. The day started with some mechanical issues – thanks to Solent-Cycles for the spares – then on to a welcome at Glasgow Airport via Falkirk with a puncture to fix on the way.

Another 35 miles on towards our overnight accommodation. Five miles short of target due to a road closure but we are in the minibus on our way back to do them now!”

Keep going team!!
