If you have a life-threatening injury, or are suffering from a critical illness, we may need to use state of the art medical equipment to help us give you the best possible outcome.
Thanks to our partners at University Hospital Southampton, this medical equipment is serviced, repaired and maintained by the team in Clinical Engineering. They service and maintain all the medical devices that we carry on our aircraft, from the Zoll cardiac monitor and ventilators, to our ThermoScan thermometer.
In recognition of the hard work in ensuring all our medical devices are frontline ready in a timely manner, the team were nominated for a Certificate of Appreciation by one of our Trustees, Dr Andy Eynon, who said:
HIOWAA would like to recognise the considerable efforts and support received from Clinical Engineering at UHS. Without all your input we would not be able to provide critical care to those who are severely injured or medically unwell.

A lot of work goes in behind the scenes, from raising purchase orders for repairs to liaising with manufacturers, to ensure this specialist medical equipment can be returned for use on our patients as quickly as possible. Despite the extra pressures during the pandemic, the team were still able to offer the same excellent service.
