Five dedicated supporters who took on the iconic London Marathon on Sunday 3 October have so far raised over £3,000 your Air Ambulance.
Ed Danson was among the thousands at the start line on Sunday, as he raised money to thank us for flying to and treating his sister, Claire. To date, Ed has raised an incredible £3,028.75 to be split between us and another charity close to his families’ heart. He told us:
‘I will never be able to thank HIOWAA enough for saving Claire’s life. What you do is amazing. Because of you all, my family is still in one piece and there is nothing more valuable and precious than that.’

Virtual London Marathon
Lucie signed up to the virtual London Marathon to help support our service and her husband, James, who is one of our former pilots. Lucie has so far raised an amazing £660!

Lucie says, ‘I am incredibly proud of James and all the highly skilled people who work so hard to deliver this fantastic service. I would really like to be able to contribute, in a small way, to the work they do. The run was great, I had some excellent support along the route, and it was such a glorious day which really helped.’
Long-time supporter of our charity, Angela Lewis, also took part in the virtual race to thank us for treating and airlifting her daughter, Laura, after she suffered serious injuries from a sporting accident in 2008. Angie says:
‘It was an awesome but exhausting virtual London Marathon, battling the winds along Stokes Bay. I lost my helicopter tail only 20 minutes into the race – thankfully stuck down and repaired with a plaster! I stopped for photos with the Police Dog Unit, AJ and K9 Kira, Fareham Police Station and Fareham Fire Station. Massive thank you to everyone who supported me and donated.’

To date, Angie’s virtual London Marathon has raised a fantastic £714.50
Two more brave souls took on the virtual marathon, Claire and Kat, who ran the 26.2 mile distance together, raising a brilliant £520.
