Angus’ 50 day workout challenge

13-year-old Angus attends Ryde School with Upper Chine on the Isle of Wight. The school’s motto is ‘Ut Prosim’ which loosely translates as “That I may be of service”. Here, pupils are encouraged to help their local community and raise money for worthwhile causes in their spare time.

Angus has set himself the challenge of completing 50 sit-ups and 50-push ups for 50 days each morning before school starts: 2,500 of each in total.

Angus told us, “I wanted to raise money for HIOWAA because, living on the Island, I am very aware of how much we depend on them. Throughout the pandemic, I know they’ve had to fly Covid-19 patients to the mainland. They do amazing things and rely on people fundraising to survive.”

Angus chose the challenge because he needed something that was tough but one that he could fit in around school and still comply with the lockdown rules.

Angus’ Mum said, “I’m extremely proud of him. I tried to keep up for moral support but there’s no way I could manage that many push-ups! He’s done brilliantly, raising £675 so far. He just wants to raise as much as he can as he knows how much it costs for each trip.”
