Nearly 700 runners turned out to take part in the Virtual Hampshire Hoppit and raise money for your Air Ambulance.
The annual marathon and half marathon event went virtual this year and challenged participants to complete a 13.1 or 26.2 mile challenge, in the week between 14 – 21 June. A total of 680 runners entered, with 507 runners completing the half marathon and 171 opting to take on the marathon distance.
Money raised
Upon sign up to the event, runners could make a voluntary donation to help keep us flying and saving lives. Thank you to everyone who donated, your amazing support raised £1975.70.
Hampshire Hoppit Race Director, Tim Fowler, told us:
“We had people running their first marathons or half marathons, some running personal bests, runners from as far afield as Australia and USA, others running for their loved ones or for reasons close to their hearts, all coming together virtually to run and enjoy the beautiful countryside. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is a charity that we cherish at the Hampshire Hoppit, and our 680 runners didn’t hold back when offering a charity contribution, with almost £2000 donated.”
