Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance’s 12th birthday!

Monday 1st July 2019

Monday 1st July marks a very special day in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance calendar. On this day in 2007, the life-saving Charity took their first flight and have since been called out to over 9,400 incidents: over 8,600 by helicopter, and over 1,800 in our Critical Care Team Vehicles.

In the past 6 months, we have added two new Critical Care Team Vehicles to our fleet to keep up with increasing patient demand, which has proved invaluable, as May 2019 was the busiest month on record!

As well as two new Critical Care Team Vehicles, we have also welcomed seven new trainee helicopter emergency medicine services (HEMS) paramedics to the team, so be sure to give them a wave if you see them flying overhead!

A big thank you to you and to our dedicated volunteers for your continued support during our fantastic 12th year, none of this would be possible without you!
