The donation of their time and skills are just some of the reasons why our volunteers are so invaluable to us. They are the backbone of the Charity, and their tireless dedication and selfless support plays a vital part in our everyday operation.
This week is National Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) and we want to say a massive thank you! From our events volunteers to our speakers, to our collection pot coordinators and our van drivers, the time and enthusiasm of all of our volunteers ensures that we can ‘keep Critical Care in the air’.
We sat down with a few of our volunteers to find out exactly what ‘keeping Critical Care in air’ means to them.
Meet Ian
Ian has been volunteering with HIOWAA since 2018. Ian often helps out on our weekly van runs, collecting and distributing collection pots.
Meet Jean
Jean started volunteering with her teenage son, Reece, in 2017. Jean helps out weekly in the office, packing event boxes and completing stock takes. In the summer she supports the Charity at community events.
Meet Mike
Mike is retired and started volunteering at the beginning of this year. After working with the police most of his life, he knows just how important the Air Ambulance can be in an emergency. Mike volunteers on our weekly van runs, collecting and redistributing collection pots in our community.
Meet Nick
Nick was working alone in his workshop on the Isle of Wight when disaster struck and he required urgent assistance from the Air Ambulance. He now volunteers at events on the Island as a small way of saying thank you.
Meet Paul
Paul has been volunteering with HIOWAA for a little over a year. Paul gets stuck into everything at HIOWAA events, from driving the van and setting up, to collecting donations.
