Last weekend (Saturday 24th May) eight members of the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association Southern Chapter took to the roads to support Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA).
The challenge, an immense 1,000 mile motorbike ride, champions the recently launched community fundraising campaign, ‘I Ride for HIOWAA’.
Starting from renowned biker link up location, Micks Burger Bar, Portsdown Hill, the bikers had an early start. At 5:30am on Sports, Cruisers, Tourers and Adventure bikes, they headed north towards the iconic Rosslyn Chapel, Scotland.
The group pulled into the chapel on Saturday afternoon at 4:30pm, 11 hours after they set off. After a quick photo the group set off towards home, with the final biker arriving back at Portsdown Hill at 4:15am, almost 24 hours after they started.

Incredibly, the group has raised over £3,000, with donations still coming in!
Event organiser, Trevor Hutcheson commented:
“It was a gruelling ride for us all, not helped by the 30 mile standstill in both directions on the M6, and the downpour of rain on the Scottish border. But I speak for us all when I say, we would do it all again for this amazing Charity. A huge well done and thank you to my fellow bikers and supporters of the challenge!”
HIOWAA CEO and long-time biker, Alex Lochrane added:
“It was an honour to be invited to ride a small portion of the first leg of this tremendous challenge. It is amazing the lengths to which people will push themselves to fundraise and support us and we are incredibly grateful for all their efforts.
